The Fan Association of North America (www.FANA.org) generously granted funds to clean and restore each of the 13 items in 2019. Artist and preservationist, Stephanie Blackstock Ayers replaced the fans' chipped gold leaf, and repaired each one. The collection is now safely stored until after the Museum itself is restored, and the extreme temperature and moisture in the building controlled to ensure their preservation.
